Fiesta Bowl Wrap-up (Equal Parts Rage and Random Musings)

First off, sorry about the holiday blank. It's been busy times.

Just finished watching Ohio State actually show up for a bowl game for the first time in three years. And still lose.

So that's depressing.

Texas managed to escape with a 24-21 victory. When the frustration dies down (DAMN THE REFS AND DAMN THE LOUSY SPOT AND DAMN JIM HEACOCK AND HIS ZONE COVERAGE!!!!1!!1!)

On the bright side, the offense actually gave the defense something work with in the fourth quarter.

I swear to god, we aren't this bad. We should have won this game - that was a shitty spot, and the zone coverage we played after they kept it was fail.

Before anyone calls this a classic game, stop. Much like the epic Boise State-Oklahoma game a few years ago, the first half plus most of the third quarter were atrocious. I'd hardly call a game that was 6-3 at the half (as aptly described by OSU radio guy Paul Keels, a "rock fight") classic or memorable or worth dedication repeated viewings to. But that fourth quarter got my out-of-shape ass gasping for air.

We at least gave the team that should have played for the title a tight game, and I'm pretty sure Boise State whiners stopped a while ago (like we've proven, you can only win a BCS game by sheer luck once a decade). When I'm done raaaaaaaaaaaaging, I can take comfort in that. Sort of. Think about this: if you're an AD at any program outside of Texas, USC, and a handful of other schools, if I said you could make it to six BCS games in a decade, but go 3-3, you'd take it in a heartbeat.

And to anybody who wants to bash the Big Ten, go look at the Big East and the ACC's BCS records, then come back and bitch.

That said: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CAN WE STOP CHOKING? Srsly, we're like, the 21st Century Bills.

Side note to Cincinnati fans lauding our so-called choke job: Enjoy the Meineke Car Care Bowl next year :)
